Manifesto

StudioSintagma is concerned with the constitutive components of creative units understood as associations of vibrations and their morphological and auditory aspects, their variety and continuous transformation.


StudioSintagma explores the psychology and logic of free vibrational associations through their visual, auditory, poetic and telekinetic expressions.


StudioSintagma observes non-identical yet resonant form–content units in order to capture their periodic patterns and reveal their non-necessarily verbal poetic nature.


StudioSintagma acknowledges the correspondences established between creative units at the quantum level, where contrasting realities do not exclude one another but coexist within the same space-time frame.


StudioSintagma emerges from the juxtaposition and compendium of two forces: the infinity of intuition and the finiteness of knowledge.

StudioSintagma beschäftigt sich mit den konstitutiven Komponenten kreativer Einheiten, verstanden als Assoziationen von Schwingungen und deren morphologischen und auditiven Aspekten, deren Vielfalt und kontinuierlicher Transformation.

Manifesto


StudioSintagma si occupa delle componenti costitutive delle unità creative intese come associazioni di vibrazioni e dei loro aspetti morfologici e uditivi, della loro varietà e della loro continua trasformazione.


StudioSintagma esplora la psicologia e la logica delle libere associazioni vibrazionali attraverso le loro espressioni visive, uditive, poetiche e telecinetiche.


StudioSintagma osserva unità forma–contenuto non identiche ma risonanti, al fine di coglierne i pattern periodici e rivelarne la natura poetica non necessariamente verbale.


StudioSintagma riconosce le corrispondenze stabilite tra unità creative a livello quantico, dove realtà contrastanti non si escludono a vicenda ma coesistono all’interno dello stesso spazio-tempo.

The Cabinet

The Cabinet is a musical piece from the album INkBlot, by composer and guitar virtuoso Daniele Gottardo.


StudioSintagma collaborated with Gottardo to bring his vision to life, creating an animated interpretation inspired by the legendary 1920 German silent film Das Kabinet des Dr. Caligari, directed by Robert Wiene.


In Wiene’s film, the Somnambulist symbolizes a humanity asleep, unknowingly controlled by higher forces. In The Cabinet, this figure awakens from the hypnotic state and transforms into a scientist, exploring the wonders of Creation through the microscope.


The animation translates music into visual narrative, blending experimental imagery with storytelling to reveal curiosity, discovery, and the awakening of perception.

The main technique is traditional stop-frame sand-animation executed on a rear-illuminated lightbox. Sound vibrations are brought to the visual plane in form of "Cymatics", by projecting the beam of a military grade laser onto a mirror fragment. Making of pictures below.

The Cabinet

The Cabinet ist ein Musikstück aus dem Album INkBlot des Komponisten und Gitarrenvirtuosen Daniele Gottardo.


StudioSintagma arbeitete mit Gottardo zusammen, um seine Vision umzusetzen, und schuf eine animierte Interpretation, inspiriert vom legendären deutschen Stummfilm Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari aus dem Jahr 1920, Regie: Robert Wiene.


Im Film von Wiene symbolisiert der Schlafwandler die Menschheit im Schlaf, unwissentlich von höheren Mächten gesteuert. In The Cabinet erwacht diese Figur aus dem hypnotischen Zustand und verwandelt sich in einen Wissenschaftler, der die Wunder der Schöpfung durch das Mikroskop erforscht.


Die Animation übersetzt Musik in eine visuelle Erzählung und verbindet experimentelle Bildsprache mit Storytelling, um Neugier, Entdeckung und das Erwachen der Wahrnehmung sichtbar zu machen.

Die Haupttechnik ist traditionelle Stop-Motion-Sandanimation, ausgeführt auf einer hintergrundbeleuchteten Lichtbox. Schallvibrationen werden in Form von „Cymatics“ auf die visuelle Ebene übertragen, indem der Strahl eines Militärlasers auf ein Spiegelstück projiziert wird. Making-of-Bilder siehe unten.

The Cabinet
The Cabinet è un brano musicale dall’album INkBlot, del compositore e virtuoso della chitarra Daniele Gottardo.


StudioSintagma ha collaborato con Gottardo per dare vita alla sua visione, creando un’interpretazione animata ispirata al leggendario film muto tedesco del 1920 Das Kabinet des Dr. Caligari, diretto da Robert Wiene.


Nel film di Wiene, il Sonnambulo simboleggia un’umanità addormentata, inconsapevolmente controllata da forze superiori. In The Cabinet, questa figura si risveglia dallo stato ipnotico e si trasforma in uno scienziato, esplorando le meraviglie della Creazione attraverso il microscopio.


L’animazione traduce la musica in narrazione visiva, combinando immagini sperimentali con storytelling per raccontare curiosità, scoperta e il risveglio della percezione.

La tecnica principale è "sand animation" o animazione a passo uno realizzata con la sabbia su vetro retroilluminato. Le vibrazioni sonore sono portate sul piano visuale in forma di "Cymatics" proiettando il raggio luminoso di un laser militare su un frammento di specchio.
